NazcaSphere

icon A novelty shoot'em up style game where you need to destroy multi-colored enemies by using an unusual weapon select system, developed with Fenix for GP32, and first adapted in 2004, now re-adapted to be functional on Dreamcast.

The objective of the game is to destroy the different colored meteorites before they hit the ground, points are scored for every meteorite destroyed. You begin the game with five lives, if a meteorite impacts the ground, you lose a life. Your weapon fires colored missiles individually, to destroy a meteorite you must hit it with the correct colored missile, rotate the sphere surrounding the character to line up the colors (the color at the top of the sphere is the missile loaded).

NazcaSphere was developed with Fenix for the GP32 by Pablo Cervantes (aka Nazca), the game was initially included in the 2004 Dreamcast mini-compilation Nazca Pack and later released as a Fenix single game by Wraggster at DCEmu.co.uk (with both versions, the controls for the game were not fully mapped to Dreamcast, the game would run but could not be played fully).

This release comprises of NazcaSphere along with DCEvolution's version of Chui's Fenix SDL Loader (FSL) from November 2004, edited to exclude the Fenix splash screen and jingle, so the game loads directly.

The controls for the game have been reconfigured to enable all game options, to be user friendly with the Dreamcast controller, and to avoid inadvertently resetting the Dreamcast during play. The menu text has been edited to display that the game is the Dreamcast version, the highscore write function has been disabled, and the WAV sound effects have been balanced for volume. Due to the alterations for this release, a download for the original GP32 version has been made available.

Note: The game seems to use a lot of the limited Dreamcast resources, it will most likely crash after approximately 10 consecutive plays.
