The objective of the game is to use a paddle to bounce a ball around a playing field, the ball is used to remove random patterns of bricks which act as obstacles within each level, bricks disappear when struck by the ball a varying number of times, and all the bricks need to be removed to advance to the next level. Various powerups become available when certain bricks are removed, the majority of these have letters to indicate what the powerup contains, S for slow, F for fast etc. There are also mystery powerups and some traps during gameplay, such as swapping the left and right control functions. The game has four character based paddles to choose from, each paddle has different features ranging from small and fast (like the Speedy Gonzales cartoon character) to slow and slippery (like Tux the Penguin on ice).

GPNoid features a traditional arcade mode where you play through the entire game in sequence, and a phase mode where you choose which stage of the game to play. There are five stages available, four included in the arcade mode and one custom stage. There is also a separate option within the menu for a game editor, a modified custom stage can be created but there is no saving available, and only the default game editor levels can be played in the custom stage of the game.

This release comprises of the GP2X version of GPNoid along with DCEvolution's version of Chui's Fenix SDL Loader (FSL) from November 2004, edited to exclude the Fenix splash screen and jingle, so the game loads directly.

The Dreamcast Fenix port does not play certain Module music files correctly, and certain files cause slowdown in game performance, the soundtrack for GPNoid (two XM tunes with a combined total running time of a little over five minutes) has been excluded from this Dreamcast version. The text within the game has been translated to English, however, graphic files containing text have not been edited. Due to the alterations made to the game for a Dreamcast release, a download for the original GP2X version has been made available (the GP2X Fenix runtime is also included in the download).
