BoobPlay

icon This is a very early (July 2000) MPEG1 video player for the Dreamcast created by CyRUS64, BoobPlay was eventually superseded by GypPlay which enabled adding multiple videos to a CD and playback control functions.

The CD Image contains BoobPlay along with the award winning music video for Pearl Jam's 2006 single: Life Wasted. Dating back to July 2000, BoobPlay was one of the first Dreamcast independently developed MPEG players, however, along with a handful of other early development releases, the application was created with the WinCE development kit. There was only one release of BoobPlay, due to being a very early example of Dreamcast development using a modified directShow example there are no controls with the application, and only a single video file auto-loads as soon as the CD boots in the Dreamcast.

PlayVideo

Prior to the release of BoobPlay a modified version of the WinCE sample was released by CyRUS64 in July 2000, the PlayVideo application was similar to its immediate successor BoobPlay in that it had no controls and a single video file would auto-load as soon as the CD containing the software was booted in a Dreamcast. NOTE: PlayVideo does not show the video in full screen. We've included a CD Image download link on this page featuring PlayVideo and the same music video for Pearl Jam's Life Wasted so you can compare BoobPlay with the other early Dreamcast MPEG 1 applications.

The first release of GypPlay (version 1.0) was in August 2000. We've included a CD Image download link on this page featuring GypPlay 1.0 and the same music video for Pearl Jam's Life Wasted so you can compare BoobPlay with the other early Dreamcast MPEG 1 applications.
